A goal is for the Sanctuary site to be used by local schools and others as an educational resource emphasising New Zealand flora and fauna. The site provides training and research opportunities.
The Sanctuary provides an easily accessible opportunity for Top of the South schools and training providers to be actively involved in conservation activities, allowing ‘learning by doing’.
