Nature photography course

Join Brook Sanctuary supporter Andy MacDonald for this short-course focused on nature photography. You’ll learn a bit of photography theory and get to put it into practice doing long exposure shots of the Sanctuary weir around sunset.

The course is limited to a maximum of 8 participants.

About Andy

Based in sunny Nelson, New Zealand Andy’s images tell stories about wild places. Starting as an underwater photographer when he was 18, Andy quickly gained recognition for his photos from remote corners of New Zealand’s coastline.

Focusing his lens on the most remote places and the rarest species Andy has created a body of work documenting New Zealand’s unseen places and species. His images have been widely published in magazines and in Newspapers. In 2019 his photograph Takapourewa Night Skies was highly commended in the New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the year awards.

Andy’s current projects focus on local history, threatened communities and the effects of Covid-19 on New Zealand. Prints from his Adventureland series are currently on show at Gravity Gallery in Tasman.

Andy is a founding member of The Toru Collective, New Zealand’s leading photography collective. He can be found on social media as NZ Andy.
