TUKU 2025 GUIDED TUATARA NIGHT WALKS
The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary is thrilled to present Guided Tuatara Night Walks as part of the TUKU25 programme, offering a unique opportunity to explore our stunning natural environment after dark.
Join us for an enchanting evening beneath the stars as you wander along the Brook Stream. You’ll have exclusive access into the tuatara area, giving you the chance to see the newly reintroduced tuatara roaming freely. Whilst there is every chance you will see tuatara (our staff and volunteers are regularly seeing them at night), however, we cannot guarantee it as the tuatara are living free within a 3.9 hectare mouse-free exclosure.
As you journey further into the bush, keep an eye out for captivating glowworms, graceful eels, and fascinating wētā. This immersive experience allows you to witness the diverse wildlife that flourishes in our carefully maintained pest-free ecosystem while gaining insights into New Zealand’s natural history and the significance of these unique species within Māori culture.
